Reflection Paragraph on Sources

I am very grateful that my sources were dependable, as well as reliable. I was very successful in finding good sources because there's a lot of "siters" out there who has the same outlook on this cruel crime. Besides, there are all kinds of dependable sites out there that you can find all you need to find about animals. My source that directed itself straight from the Humane Society, was in fact the one in which I received the most help. This authors of those articles work with animals and veterinarians for a living, so you can be quite sure that the informational is dependable. This helpful website, for me, would also qualify itself as the most trustworthy for the same exact reason. I ran across several biased articles that sided my topic in different ways. With titles like, "--- is Wrong," you can be sure that this is obviously a person's opinion and that people who are against them are going to argue with them. Other than that, I'm grateful for my sources.

Refelection on Process

During this research project I felt pretty comfortable. I have got to admit, this project was pretty easy, noting that my topic was based on the things I love - animals. What made this project extremely easy was that it guided you through everything step-by-step. What I enjoyed the most from this project was making a blog, wordle, and animoto. I've never really had a website of my own before but now that I do, I feel pretty important. The wordle thing was pretty cool! I like collages anyway. I'm very impressed with animoto! I love it and I use it for just about any special occasion now! The one thing I didn't like about this project was accuracy. You have to be really careful with which template you choose for your blog... not everything fits in everything. If I had this project again, I would probably put more gadgets on it, especially polls. I like to here everybody's side of the story.

Wordle: Animal Deformities

Reflection Paragraph on Findings

Due to research I was able to find out what caused animal deformities, were they genetic or not, as well as why certain animals got a certain deformity. The most important facts I learned from this research is that most of the deformities found in animals are due to inbreeding, cloning, and experimenting. I also learned that people put animals through this torture for their craving want for money and sometimes even to go up against nature and create something new. The most surprising thing to me within this topic is that there is no edict at all against this cruelty! Why, you ask - who knows. You can never be too sure about anything. I still want to know WHY there is no law against this, why someone hasn't taken this crime to proper authority and speak up for these innocent animals, and why do people still do it when they see that all it's doing is killing off the animal population. After doing all of my research, I feel more stronger about my topic then I did when I started. Before I really got into the research, I kind of wavered on the topic myself, not knowing the slightest bit how I was going to make this research worth my time. But I'm glad I didn't turn around!

Finding Paragraph #3

Deformities affect animals very severely, and there is no certain affect for any certain animals; they're all in many different forms. "Not all critters are alike, as seen by animal deformities including creatures that are plus/ minus a couple of legs, tongues, heads, and other body parts." There is no telling how these animals are going to get their disability and there's no telling which animals are going to get it. Not every animal has the same deformity as the other animal next door. "Characterized by crippling deformities and abnormally shaped limbs, the disease causes the cartilage cushioning the joints to become deformed and the bones attached to that of the cartilage to grow abnormally." If this doesn't sound painful to anyone, I don't know what will. In my opinion, what's wrong is wrong and what's right is right. NOTHING about ANY of this is right. All in all I believe most people do commit this crime to put animals through a lifetime of ignominy.

This is what a REAL naked mole rat looks like.

Finding Paragraph #2

Deformations found in baby animals are the result of the inbreeding performed on their parents from which they came. "In recent years the increase in the number of reports of animals being born with genetic defects has almost tripled. Scientists state that the deformities could be caused by several factors including inbreeding, parasites and pollution that permeates the skin." Animals do not have the ability to speak up for themselves; they aren't able to stop anything be done to them. When a person commits the crime of inbreeding one animal, it affects many others. In my opinion, if an animal, who has been inbred, gives birth, the infant animal should be immediately checked for medical issues. Unfortunately, not all the time is medical attention efficacious for these poor young animals in desperate need.

Look CLOSELY... these chihuahua puppies are "front-legless."

Finding Paragraph #1

From research, I found out the deformities found in most local animals are caused by the hand of man. "As we are doing our research for this website, we have come to realize the sad fact that even the kings of the animal world can be subject to animal abuse," Paige, founder of the Felinesty Purrfectly Proud website stated on the disturbing subject. based on the flaws people make when they play around with nature, animals have suffered from captive inbreeding for many many years. The result - burdening, unbearable deformities that are harsh enough to kill the average animal off at birth. "The white gene (of the white tiger) is a double-recessive one caused mostly by inbreeding (in a natural mating there is only a one in 10,000 chance that a tiger will be white), which is why they say that it exists 'only in captivity'. Zoos are not willing to wait for this one in 10,000 miracle tiger, and so find that the only other way to produce them is through inbreeding. Who could be so apathetic? " Animals like the white tiger are some of the major victims of captive inbreeding; even though there is a very slight chance they'll turn out white, they multiply rapidly because of the inbreeding they are forced to go through. In my opinion, I say that inbreeders captivate these innocent animals, inbreed them against their own will, and rejoice in their sufferings for their own pleasure. People inbreed animals when they want to make money, new species, a public scene, and even fools of the animals themselves. It's about time the genetic mutation is put to a stop.

"In recent years the increase in the number of reports of animals being born with genetic defects has almost tripled. Scientists state that the deformities could be caused by several factors including inbreeding, parasites and pollution that permeates the skin."

The deformities found in animals are not only caused by mixing up the breeds of the animals. Most of the deformities found in baby animals at birth, are the genetic traits of their parents who were inbred themselves. So if you really think about it, deformities found in animals are caused by the hands of man.

" Not all critters are alike, as seen by animal deformities including creatures that are plus / minus a couple of legs, tongues, heads, and other body parts."

Yes it is true, animals are here to fulfill one main purpose of life - to take away human loneliness. But that is only an opinion. Animals have their own personalities, regardless of their similarities. Animals with deformities are unique in their own way, yet not the way the prefer to be. Animal deformities are not created by choice, but by the cruelty of those who don't appreciate the wondrous creatures that live here to keep us company and reveal the secret of a friendship of nature.

"Through selective breeding, the featherless chicken was created as a prototype for a new chicken breed that could be faster-growing and ‘environmentally friendly,’ meaning the energy that would otherwise be lost to the feather-plucking process could be conserved."

Inbreeders are very particular about what they breed, and are very sure to select carefully. The featherless chicken was breed for the simple reason of laziness. people didn't want to find the time to pluck the feathers so they decided that it would be easier to just breed them without feathers, as well as kill them without the feathers.

In this photo shown here, a featherless chicken strikes a pose for the camera. Why would they do something like this to a chicken? Featherless chickens are a result of meat producers trying to figure out a quicker way to get chickens into stores and out. Well, it worked.

"Deaths and deformities in cloned animals are the norm, not the exception, and these studies make plain once agin that these creatures are suffering terribly in the process," said Wayne Pacelle, Senior Vice President of The Humane Society of the United States."

Wayne Pacelle is making a pretty clear statement on how it's quite normal for animals to die in result of being cloned; it's the fact that they were cloned in the first place that makes it terrible. Being one of the main causes for deformities, cloning should really be illegal, as it is in most states. Wayne Pacelle and I both agree, cloniong is neither the norm nor is it the exception.

The photograph below shows a young puppy named Lily. Lily, a victim of inbreeding before birth, was born with an extra leg extruding from the center of her stomach. Lily's extra leg contains six toes; the rest of her legs contain the normal number of five. Lily is a perfect example of how inbreeding is one of the major reasons for animal deformities.

The information given on this website is all based on the flaws people make when they play around with nature. The website provides pictures of animals who are victims of inbreeding. People inbreed for many different reasons, such as, a change in color. The author of this website / article goes by the name of Paige. This website can be useful because it provides me with more information on my topic’s theme - white tigers.

http://www.messybeast.com/freak-face.htm

The information on this website provides the different causes for deformities in certain animals, particularly in their faces. The curiosity of animal facial deformities in this website also provide evidence of a two - headed kitten diagnosed with facial duplication. Sarah Hartwell is the creator of this website article. This website can be useful because it provides me with different deformities that I haven’t even thought of yet.

http://www.hsus.org/press_and_publications/press_releases/cloned_animals_suffer_death_deformities_according_to_leading_journal_articles.html

The information on this website provides information on animals that are victims of animal “cloners“. Cloning animals is almost as dangerous as inbreeding them. When animals are cloned, experimenters find it exciting and refer it as “eureka”, but on the outside of the science labs, animals don’t last long at all once they’re cloned. The creator of this website / article goes by the name of Rachel Querry and Mark Helm. This website is useful because it provides me with a little extra information to argue with the cruelty of animal deformation.

http://webecoist.com/2009/09/18/altered-evolution-strange-animal-deformities/

The information on this website provides information on rare animals that have been seen but are not captured because of their physical appearance, such as a blue lobster. Not only does this website provide info on the animals who aren’t captured, but those who are born in homes of everyday people. This website shows facts about the two-headed cat, the two-tongued cat, the blue lobster, as well as the featherless rooster. The creator of this website/article goes by the name of Chris. This can be useful because it proves my argument of the cruelty of animal inbreeding and it makes you wonder if animal deformities are man-made or natural.

What I Want To Know About My Topic

What I Want to Know About my Topic

Yes, I know a lot about animals and their shocking deformities, but no one knows everything. I want to know what the deformity in each animal is caused by. I wonder if a certain deformity for a certain animal has ever skipped a generation of that same line of animals. The things that you never think about could be the ones that are most important things you need to know. To me, animals are mysterious – you can never be sure if they’re in pain or stressed. I want to know how an owner knows when their beloved pet is in need of medical attention for a chronic disability that comes upon them at a certain age. How will the owner know if their pet is on the verge of a disabling deformity – is there a way to prevent this? These are the questions that ponder through my head every time I see a suffering animal. This is a problem – a really big problem – that we all need to get together and solve.

What I Already Knew About my Topic

What I Already Knew About my Topic

When I made my decision to write about animal deformities, I began to think about the many deformities that animals are burdened to live with. There are many things that animals go through, the average human wouldn’t be able to bear it. The sad part about it is the fact that these animals are chronically diagnosed with these deformities because of the simple things in life such as being too low to the floor, running, or even being too intelligent.
The Chihuahua, as well as the wiener dog, has shoulder dislocation only because they are built so close to the ground. The sheep dogs, which are the running type to put the herd into place, are eventually diagnosed with hip dysplasia, only for doing its job- running. The Dalmatian dog has a very unusual disorder – intelligence. Once the Dalmatian dog gets to be a certain age, its brain begins to outgrow its skull. Eventually, the dog goes crazy and has to be humanely euthanized. So you can never really tell what an animal’s world truly involves.

The Story Behind My Topic

When Ms. McKoy told us that we were allowed to choose our own topic for our research paper, I began to surf through my mind for the perfect one. I thought of the things that I loved, I thought of the things that were important to mankind. What will I bring to the “to the table” that’ll get everyone’s attention? That’s when it hit me! I love animals, animals have a position of importance in this world too, you know.
Now that I had my leading idea, I need to focus on what my topic would be based on. That’s when I thought about “animal deformities”, the many malfunctions that animals don’t ask for but can’t do anything about. The white tiger is one of the many animals that suffer with burdening deformities. I chose to write about them!
